“The physiology of store operated calcium signaling in the brain”

I will be talking about the molecular mechanisms and physiological roles of store-operated calcium channels in neurons and astroglia. Our work indicates that the store-operated Orai1 channel plays a key role in regulating cognitive functions by regulating synaptic plasticity in neurons. Orai1 is additionally involved in mediating brain inflammation through microglial and astrocyte functions, which impacts syndromes such as neuropathic pain and inflammation-evoked depression.
