“Is NOX2 a targetable immune checkpoint in cancer?”

**VIRTUAL SEMINAR**
“Anna Martner´s research group studies the role of the myeloid cell enzyme NOX2 in cancer. Myeloid cells express high levels of NOX2 that generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) that are pivotal for innate immune defense against microbes. However, when extracellularly released ROS also exert immunosuppression and thereby promote growth and metastatic spread of malignant cells. NOX2-inhibitors have been shown to enhance immunosurveillance in vitro and in vivo. NOX2 may thus be a therapeutic target in cancer. “
