"May the Force Be with You: Vascular Piezo1 and the Cerebral Blood Flow Symphony" (tentative)

Changes in blood flow to match brain activity are essential for brain health, but the consequences of accompanying mechanical forces are not fully understood. We recently discovered that the central nervous system blood vessels sense forces through the actions of the Piezo1 channel. In my talk, I will share recent evidence from our group that Piezo1 is crucial in regulating cerebral blood flow, and how this role is impaired during cardiovascular disease.
